ABOUT THE ARTIST

Allyn Harad
Allyn Harad began seriously studying art in her undergraduate college years when she double majored in psychology and art. The marriage of the two disciplines rewarded her with a Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies and a concentration in Art Therapy. She notes how the professors repeated more than once "keep up with your own art". Allyn's art has evolved over the years:

  • extensive figure drawing studies
  • tight and confined work in etchings
  • looser and more colorful abstract work in pastels
  • fluid expressive watercolors

Allyn studied with several watercolorists - who impassioned her with the diversity and the sense of release in using watercolors. As her journey continued, she painted in the large format of landscapes and later found even greater contentment from designing miniatures.

Allyn combines her love of using graphite with the beauty of watercolor interpretations to create "a day in the life of Mimi." Mimi expresses simplicity and honesty.

Mimi’s Message to You
Hi, my name is Mimi. I live in New Mexico near the Sandia Mountains. I love the roadrunners and bobcats, but mostly listening to the howling coyotes in the wee morning hours. I like the quiet moments outdoors...snowflakes falling on my nose...gazing at the stars, horizons. I am thankful for carrots. Green and orange are my favorite colors. My life is simple yet rich. Each moment I share is about a slice of my life.
thanx, Mimi
